As a workaround, I keep turning the sound off, when in a public place, and I keep forgetting to turn it back on.
This happens with pure text lessons (auto TTS) and with audio transcription lessons (auto play).
Suggestion:
Go to the settings, its on the Sentence view section and you can disable both auto tts and translation on paging. This is the new feature that has been available on web for a while now. I’ve enabled it by default in the beta for testing.
2 options have an effect in the sentence view - auto-translating & auto-reading- but only 1 got a shortcut in the Tt dialog: auto-translate, making the other one much less discoverable, hence my initial problem/report. Both “siblings” deserve a seat at the same table, in the Tt dialog (see image below).
These are not visual settings, so they are on the 3 dots to the right → Settings and then you should see the Sentence view options. You are probably right that these settings should all be easily accessible from this popup though. We are working on streamlining the settings, apologies in advance for the confusion.
