EDIT: This comment was made before I had access to the IOS beta, which addresses the main issues raised here. I’m now quite happy with the changes made to the interface, and likely sign up for an annual sub.
I’ve had multiple LingQ accounts over the years and came back when I saw that v5 was being released.
I’ve downloaded the Android app, and it’s a definite improvement over v4, however I was a little disappointed that it’s essentially a cosmetic makeover, albeit a very good and highly polished one.
I’ve only spend 20 minutes or so on the app, so perhaps there’s some features I’ve not come across. Can any long-term users enlighten me?
Anyway, one thing that has always annoyed me with the mobile apps is the sentence spacing. For me, it just makes the experience of reading a bit annoying, and there’s so much wasted space, and it doesn’t fee like you’re reading a book. Is it going to be possible to change the line spacing?
I attach 3 screenshots to show the difference. On the BBC site, there is still sufficient space to select individual words and sentences, but I understand it may be a little tight for some. I would much rather the formatting was closer to the ebook than the current LingQ…
Perhaps an option to use LingQ more as a typical ebook reader would be helpful? When I look a the ebook, I want to read it. When I look at LingQ, I want to get rid of the blue words.
