Are you positive thinker,or negative thinker?

Hi!
everyone.
i want to ask for everyone this thing.

recently i have heard when we think be positive,it happens good thing,
when we think be negative it happens bad thing.

To be honest

i don’t know what they said

what do you think about that?

it means when you have a positive attitude about everything, you will feel good even when bad things happen.
when you have a negative attitude, bad things will be worse.
i think it is mostly true. although often i do not think positively. haha

ryou,

I think positive thinking can influence what happens in some cases.

If you think positively about wanting the rain to stop, or making lots of money or wishing that your favourite baseball will win, that will have no influence.

If you think positively about yourself, and about what you are about to do, you may achieve better results. If you climb a mountain and don’t think you can reach the top, you may not. If you can visualize yourself reaching the top, and are confident you can reach the top, you have a much better chance of reaching the top.

Language learning is much the same. Your determination and confidence have a major influence on your results.

I am kinda partial to realism. Being overly optimistic is no good recipe if you climb K2. Some commentators have pointed out that this self motivational-feel good-positive thinking culture in the US helped creating the financial meltdown of 2008 because it blinded business leaders to risks. A positive attitude ceratinly helps in learning, however overly unrealistic goals (Benny again) will frustate the learner when he falls short.

In a wider context, believing in human ingeniuity to solve humanity’s future challenges is important but being aware of fundamental constraints and risks is equally important.

Hello!
While somebody is positive, he doesn’t give up and carries on his struggle. That’s why good things happen.
But there is a pitfall. Some people make the “being positive” principle as their unique mantra which cover up other important principles in their minds. They focus only on being positive and don’t pay enough attention to analysing the problems, to revealing their main causes, to identifying the critique factors of success. Then they face harsh frustrations with dramatic consequences.

If positive attitude means accepting anything we encounter and disregarding risks or negative aspects of our situations, it is risky. We should see both positive and negative aspects. But we usually don’t have complete information about our current and future situations. Lasciate ogne speranza, voi ch’intrate.

“Most people get a fair amount of fun out of their lives, but on balance life is suffering, and only the very young or the very foolish imagine otherwise.”(George Orwell)

“But we usually don’t have complete information about our current and future situations.”

That simply means that we can’t eliminate the risks at all.
But it is good to diminish the risks by using the available information from the present and from the past. We never know which bit of awareness will tip the scales of the destiny in our favour.

i agree with realism, but in certain context i think being optimistic is great. i.e. working out. whenever i have confidence that i will lift a weight it is normally easier/faster than if i did not.

“Think negatively” is good to convince yourself to do things when you don’t feel like it.

have you ever read As a Man Thinketh?

Just look for it on Google. It is only 28 pages long (my favorite kind of book) and it is available for free since the author has died more than 100 years ago.

In relation to language, if you have done interpretation in public settings, you will know that an optimistic attitude is absolutely necessary even if you do have worries, simply because it is process full of uncertainty. However, in the end, it is a personality issue. You either forget about your worries and carry on or you will have to let someone else take over.

… it is a process …
