Any resources out there for Cantonese?

Thanks Edwin, I appreciate the moral support. I know that most Cantonese speakers here are simply amazed that anyone speaks their language. However, I hope to be able to explain a few fairly complicated concepts and don’t want to be too tongue tied. On the other hand, I agree that we should just go for it and not be too worried if we come across a little less eloquently in a language that we are still learning. That is what it is all about.

Certainly the tremendously warm reception I get from any Cantonese speaker I speak to in Cantonese is a great source of encouragement.

Hi, Steve,
If you look for some transcripts of Hong Kong news, please fill in the reply form of the Hong Kong Radio website. Here is the link: http://rthk.hk/rthk/news/cnews_subscript.htm

Another useful link: Podcast One
You’ll find a lot of Hong Kong TV shows there.

I have filled in the form, thanks. I will see what happens.

I had found the podcasts and am enjoying them. I am listening to 古今風雲人物. Just great! I hope there are transcripts. I may approach them about using their content at LingQ once we get Cantonese going here. This will depend on people’s votes.

The interview was fine, and I will post a link when the program is aired.

My crash course of listening to 古今風雲人物 really allowed my to upgrade my Cantonese in the last two days. Thanks Peter for the information.

Hi, Steve

Not at all, you’re welcome!

The program “古今風雲人物” is very interesting. I like it too.

Finally, it is out:

Although I only understand maybe one word out of a hundred, this is like music to my ears (I have heard so much Cantonese in movies the last decade). Definitely one of the languages I want to devote some time to.

I wonder if this interview will ever be transcribed…
