“I like to watch movies on the big screen. They’re just not as exciting at home on DVD.”
I don’t understand the second sentence. I remember I learned “not as adjectives as…”, but there is only one “as” in this sentence. Is that correct?
Can anybody help me here?
“At home on DVD” is effectively an adjective qualifying “They”.
Or maybe it’s a conditional = “If you see DVD’s at home they are just not as exciting.”

I think it’s that the speaker has taken one “not as _______ as” and broken it up into two sentences. You could say “Movies are just not as exciting at home on DVD as they are on the big screen”. Breaking it down into two sentences makes it more informal and puts the emphasis on how exciting movies are on the big screen. The comparison to watching at home is then tacked on in a second sentence which indicates that “Movies are just not as exciting [to watch] at home on DVD”.

The speaker is (really) saying, “I like to watch movies on the big screen. They’re just not as exciting at home on DVD [as they are on the big screen].” the second part in brackets is not included or actually said because it is already implied by the first sentence.
