Steve, why do you have an account that says you are a native Catalan speaker?
“multiple personalities”
You are right Helen! That’s really weird.
Steve, are you learning Catalan secretly?
I needed another account to see what happens when newcomers sign up. The fact that Aruba and Catalan are near the top of the list when we choose our country and language had nothing to do with. I think it is Freudian. I wished I lived somewhere warmer than Canada and I secretly wish to be a Catalan speaker.
I’d have to agree that having some sort of evaluation from the learner is a great idea. It would be great if it went to support, but also to the tutor as well so they could improve as a tutor. Something quick and easy like on Skype, where sometimes when a call is finished, a 1-5 star rating system comes up and you can provide feedback on your call straight away.
I also agree with Vera, I would prefer to have my writing corrected by someone I’ve talked to as opposed to someone I have not studied with.
Perhaps this isn’t the best place, but I would like to say sorry to those people whose conversations I have cancelled at the last minute over the last couple of months. I have had trouble with allergies and have had some really bad days through April and May. I’ve been given various medicines and can talk properly again now
I have just read the manual for tutors but I read about Tutors tab / pages that I cannot see, although I do have set up the Tutor section in my profile. Am I missing anything?
That was in the previous version of LingQ. There was a section only tutors can see. Now as soon as you have set yourself up as a tutor you can go ahead, offer writing correcition and host conversations. Go to the Speak section, click on the blue bar “Add/Edit Conversations” and you will see the calendar. Tick a day to get to the day’s schedule and choose the times you want to offer (slots) - for group conversations click on “Group” and again choose times (for 1, 2, 3, or 4 participants), make sure that you have chosen the right language, give it a title and a description and save. Good luck:))
Danke Reinhard! I still have to set up my first conversation; I must admit that I am not very comfortable to talk on the phone or a similar device like Skype… but well, I will have to overcome this sooner or later.
There is an article on my blog that provides a lot of links to interesting information about tutoring:

I hope it helps.
