Another question: what’s the difference between “цвет” and “окрас”? When I look them up in the dictionary, they both mean “color.”

Yes “цвет” and “окрас” do mean the same, but the first has a botanic sense and can mean “flower” so I guess it has to do with “Tone”.
окрас does only mean colour!
“цвет” is a main word for “colour”
- Какой твой любимый цвет?
- Красный.
- У вас есть такие футболки другого цвета?
while “окрас” is used only for animals.
