È displays as é

For the last week or so, words containing è in my imported texts display in lessons as é. When I try to edit the sentence to correct it, it displays correctly - in the editor. But then it’s still wrong in the lesson view.

Please fix!

Thanks, we will have it fixed.

I just noticed that it’s also happening with à displaying as á.

Hello @ElleMNo Could you please add a screenshot, it would help to reproduce the issue. I checked in lesson and it looks okay to me.

This text was imported from an ePub… but that shouldn’t matter, right? Because I can’t even correct it in the editing view?

Here’s another example - from a lesson that has been available since before I knew LingQ existed. Maybe it’s only happening for me(?!)… but it’s not only my own content.

Displaying correctly in editing view:

@ElleMNo could you please share a epub file? Just for testing purposes only. You can send it to the support@lingq.com for example. I tried EPUB file with this book from the internet - and the issue is not reproduced. So it would be good to check with your file, to understand what causes the issue. Thank you in advance!

I see the same issue in lessons that have been shared by other users. And I just did a quick import, copying and pasting the text that you used in your test. It displays incorrectly in lesson view and correctly in edit view. I don’t think my ePub suggestion was correct. Maybe something to do with my account?

I figured it out! It’s the Adys font! Why would the accents on the font get messed up all of a sudden? Do I have to switch fonts? I like that one….

I swear, this font was fine until recently….

Thank you! You did a great job! We’ll check how to fix it.

@ElleMNo Thank you for this feedback. You did a great investigation! I checked with the developer, and unfortunately we can’t change the symbols in the fonts. We don’t develop the fonts ourselves and can only use the versions that are available. So my only suggestion is to use some other font.

I hope this small inconvenience doesn’t affect your learning too much. Have a wonderful day!

For what it’s worth, I have the ADYS font on my Mac, and it works fine in other contexts. Is there something unique about the encoding of the symbols on LingQ? This font worked fine on LingQ until maybe two weeks ago… or so.
